Biography

Jessie Slafter, Esq., LCSW, brings her unique experience in social work and child welfare to her compassionate advocacy in family law. She began her professional career working with children in mental health treatment and foster care in Utah. She obtained her MSW at Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. where she practiced as a home-based family therapist with youth who were probation involved. After being exposed to complex legal barriers facing her clients, Jessie decided to return to California to enroll in law school to better serve and advocate for families. After graduating third in her class, Jessie obtained an Equal Justice Works Fellowship with East Bay Children's Law Offices sponsored by Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton and Clorox, where she created a pilot project to improve outcomes for youth in foster care with profound mental health needs. During her five years at East Bay Children's Law Offices, Jessie represented clients in dependency and juvenile justice proceedings while advocating at the community level for larger scale changes. Additionally, Jessie provided trainings across California to parents and providers on topics such as mental health law, boundaries, and trauma-informed practice. At Wapnick Family Law, Jessie combines her training in interpersonal dynamics with her advocacy as an attorney to provide zealous representation on your case.
